Mexic-Arte Museum Concept

36 x 12 feet. Recycled clay, glaze (LEED certified).
Gradient stripes and dimensional stitching of traditional Mexican serape weavings inspire the design. (The original serape factory resides in Saltillo, Mexico - Austin’s sister city. See below for an authentic serape that is meant to mimic the colors of a Saltillo sunset.) From a distance, individual segments on the facade appear as textural vertical strips, and intricate patterns can be read as moving color fields. At the ground level, pedestrians can slide interactive gates to create analog moving moiré images of Mexico’s famed Lucha Libre wrestlers.
